Songsan High School has decided not to select new students for 2025

Songsan High School, a prestigious volleyball high school in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, has begun the process of dismantling the volleyball team. More than a decade ago, Hwaseong City and Hwaseong City Sports Council spent more than 2 billion won to create the team.

"Earlier this month, the school held a meeting with parents of the volleyball team and announced that it would not select freshmen players for the 2025 volleyball team," Songsan High School volleyball coach Kim Dal-ho said in a recent phone call with this newspaper.

According to head coach Kim and the local volleyball community, Songsan High School has received around 30 complaints from parents over the past three years. These were the contents that raised complaints or suspicions about the leader of the volleyball team and the guidance teacher of the school volleyball team regarding the fundraising, gift provision, and meal service. The former coach A, who was an active member of the national team in the past, is said to have filed a complaint with the school.

"It's only three years ago, and I know the school doesn't have these problems now," coach Kim said. "Now, I and my parents are running a volleyball team while strictly adhering to the regulations, but it's frustrating to see a policy not to select new students." Coach Kim was appointed in March.

A demonstration was held at Songsan Middle School on the 15th to demand the withdrawal of the dismantling of the Songsan High School volleyball team. Park Jong-sun, president of Hwaseong City Sports Council, Park Yong-gyu, president of Gyeonggi-do Volleyball Association, Kim Geum-gyu, president of the Korea Volleyball Federation, Lee Won-seong, president of Gyeonggi-do Sports Council, Kim Taek-soo, secretary-general of Gyeonggi-do Sports Council, Lee Yong-un, parents, and students from the volleyball department attended. In Hwaseong City, students from the volleyball department are continuing their careers to Namyang Elementary School, Songsan Middle School, and Songsan High School. The dissolution of Songsan High School's volleyball department will inevitably have a big impact on the local volleyball community. Hwaseong City provided 330 million won for the construction of the volleyball department's training camp in 2008, 55 million won for the purchase of vehicles for the volleyball department in 2009, and 1.7 billion won for the expansion of the gymnasium in 2011. About 50 million won was provided last year and 30 million won this year as a result of the leader's labor costs, supplies purchase costs, and competition support. Songsan High School was founded in 2009 and won the runner-up at the 2013 National Sports Festival and the 2016 National Sports Festival.

Songsan High School will participate in the CBS Cup National Secondhand Volleyball Championship in Samcheok, Gangwon Province, on the 23rd. It is the last competition of this year that is recognized for its performance in the game related to college entrance examinations. Four people have already left the team this year, and 10 people are left. Coach Kim said, "We submitted applications for the competition with five third graders, two second graders, and three first graders. The players do not express their feelings, but they feel it is the last competition." The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education visits Songsan High School and asks to maintain the volleyball team, but the situation is reportedly not easy. According to the current provisions of the education office related to the Ministry of Sports, the school's sports department can be disbanded entirely at the will of the principal. 토토사이트 모음
